windy and slow fishing

Report Date: February 1, 2018

Fishing has been slow the past few weeks in Miami. It has been a struggle to put up a good catch. We have to work very hard to make results happen at the end of the day. Sixty miles north of us there have been an epic sailfish bite. Boats have been putting double digits up just about every day. Normally we should be getting on a bite like this but it hasn’t happened yet.I have a feeling those fish should push down soon its just a matter of when.

If the sailfish don’t cooperate for us sometimes we have to go deep. The deeper water has been producing golden tilefish and black belly rosefish. The swordfish action has been good in the day but I haven’t had a chance to target them so far this year.

Inshore fishing has been fairly active with some large jack crevelles, mangrove snapper, and tarpon. We have been fishing the beach for the tarpon and Biscayne bay for the other species.

I was lucky enough to do a Bahama trip this past week. We had a weather window and were able to put together a nice catch. In a couple hours of deep dropping we limited out on yelloweye, vermillion snapper, queen snapper, and button snapper. After we were done with the snapper fishing we caught several nice wahoos to end the trip.

I still have some availabilities towards the end of the month so if you would like to go deep sea fishing please give me a call or send me an email.
