Mahi and Swordfish Time

Report Date: June 4, 2015

This past May produced some live action on the reef as well as offshore. May is a great month for multiple species including mahi, tuna, cobia, sailfish, sharks, swordfish, kingfish, tarpon, ribbon fish and snook just to name a few.

I’d like to start off by congratulating my brother and his family for finishing first place daily and third place overall in the Pompano Beach Fishing Rodeo aboard the Frick and Frack! They had a whopping 220 lbs the first day and just a little bit under that the second day. Big kingfish, blackfin tuna, mahi and cobia were thrown on the dock as it was the best two days of fishing so far this year.

There has been a good swordfish bite the past 5 days. As we approach the backside of the full moon, the fishing should get even better. I have heard of numerous broadbills caught over 300lbs and one over 500lbs. Some of the bigger fish have followers with them as they are spawning right now. If you are a big game hunter and would enjoy battling a gladiator, now is the time!
While traveling to the sword grounds there is always a chance of catching mahi mahi which are found under birds, debris, and seaweed this time of year.

June, July, and August are great months for traveling to the Bahamas. Starting at 48 miles you can reach your destination in less than two hours! Bimini has recently added a full blown casino alongside a 400 room Hilton. Some of the fish we catch there include billfish, large sharks, yellowfin tuna, dolphin, wahoo, grouper

and snapper. If you like to fish, relax on the beach, or enjoy nightlife this is the spot.

I still have some openings towards the end of the month. If you would like to book a trip please call me at 754-244-2531 or send me an email. Hope everyone has a great summer!
