Mahi Mayhem
Report Date: October 8, 2018
September fishing has been good to us this year. I did not sail as much as previous years but when we did get out the seas were calm and fish were biting.
The fall kingfish school has shown up with most fish being in the 4-7 lb range. Live bait has been a struggle lately so we have been trolling the reef with bonita strips and artificial baits. If we can capture our limit first thing or the bite is slow we will switch up and track offshore in search of mahi and tuna.
The mahi fishing this fall has been the best in years. These are not your normal schoolies. Most fish have been weighing 8-15 lbs. with some bigger ones mixed in.
Swordfishing has been a bit slow in the day time but I have heard of some good reports at night. The weather is forecasted to blow strong out the northeast for the next week so I would anticipate that the day and nighttime swordfishing will pick up then.
The mullet are still a bit north of us. Fortunately with the northeaster we have in town it should drive them into our backyard in the next few weeks. If you can time it right the fall mullet run is some of the most exciting fishing to see. Tarpon, sharks, jack crevalle, lady fish, snook, and everything else in the ocean chasing them down.
Whether it be fishing the beach for snook and tarpon or venturing offshore to catch big trophy gamefish we can make it happen for you. I still have availabilities this month. If you would like to book you can send me an email or contact me direct at 754-244-2531.
