Happy New Year!

Report Date: January 9, 2017

Happy New Year!,

I hope everyone had a safe and eventful holiday with family and friends. 2016 has come and gone very fast and we are ready for a successful 2017.

We have started out the new year with a bang. A couple cold front’s have finally livened up the billfishing . Sandman caught 25 sailfish yesterday, followed by the L and H with 15 sailfish off Miami. This has been the best bite that I have heard of in months. They battled the rough seas and both boats starting off the New Year on the right foot.

This past month I have done several billfish tournaments, local offshore and inshore fishing, and some Bahama fishing. Our tournament season has been unproductive so far. We have gotten enough bites in the past two tournaments to win but were unfortunate to keep the fish on the hooks. This happens some times and hope it improves for the new year.

Inshore fishing has inclined over the past weeks due to the drop in water temperature. We have been fishing along the docks and grass flats catching snook, jacks, ladyfish, bluefish, and sea trout. The tarpon have been a little bit off but I think this cold weather will get them biting soon.

Offshore the sailfishing has been fantastic over the past few days. Most boats reaching double digits along with a good kingfish bite, and a few mahi and tuna mixed in. Boats have also been catching swordfish when the winds have been light.

I was a part of several Bahama trips last month which have produced big wahoo, yellowfin tuna, sharks, barracudas, and lots of bottom fish.

As you can see there have been a mixed bag of fish to target based on your preference. I still have some openings left for the end of the month and some in February. Please do not hesitate to call or send me an email if you would like to arrange a South Florida fishing excursion.

Hope everyone has a prosperous New Year,

Sincerely,

Freddie david
