Fun Fall Fishing

October fishing has been good this year but the charters have been on the slower side. As the seasons change many fish are on the move southbound. Mullet have shown up in mass with tarpon, spinner sharks, jack crevalle, snook, and ladyfish just to name a few. I have been seeing ocean schools of mullet as deep as 50 ft of water and as shallow as 5 inches of water.

Fishing near coast has been consistent as well. We have been going out with live bait and anchoring on the reef. Doing this we have been catching cero mackeral, Spanish mackeral, king mackeral, mutton snapper, black grouper , yellow tail snapper, and the occasional sailfish.

  Futher offshore there has been a good sword bite at night and during the day. Next couple months are peak off the south florida coast. Asides from the swords we have been catching some sculpen fish deep dropping. These are good for the table and the savior of the day sometimes.

  As we approach the winter months we will be switching our tactics out to less trolling and more live bait. The sailfish are showing up and should get better as the cold fronts make there way down.
