Fishings Heating UP
Report Date: March 5, 2018
Fishing has picked up significantly over the past month. There have been some big numbers of sailfish seen on a regular basis. I think this has a lot to do with a severe weather system in the North East. Asides from the sailfish there have been some big amberjacks showing up in good numbers along with snapper and grouper action on the bottom.
Offshore the mahi mahi have still not showed up too strong yet but the swordfish bite continues to be stable both day and night. We were lucky enough to catch one that was 375 lbs a few weeks back. This big one was hand cranked from the bottom with an angler that needs one more billfish to complete his royal slam.
I was lucky enough to get across to the Bahamas earlier in the week which produced wahoo, yellowtail snapper, yellow eye snapper, big sharks, wahoo, amberjacks, cero mackeral, and some big mangrove snappers. There was also some good tarpon action and bullshark action at the docks at night.
I will be heading down to the keys to fish the Jimmy Johnson tournament hosted by the hard rock mid week. The following week I still have availabilities if you would like to get out there. We are starting to come into my favorite time of year for fishing South Florida so if you would like to get out of the cold and into the warm now would be a good time.
