Fall is Among us

Report Date: November 13, 2019

Fall fishing is here and in full swing. There has been good fishing the past few weeks with a little variety to go with it.

Swordfishing has been very consistent over the past few weeks. September - January are my favorite months to fish for them. Over the past 8 trips we have caught them every time besides one trip when all we caught were squid. There have also been some gaffer mahi while fishing and on the way in and out. The biggest broadbill we landed was 280 lbs. We have gotten a few more over the 200 mark and I have heard some caught up to 500 lbs.
Now is a great time to take one off your bucket list if you have never caught a broadbill swordfish.

Closer to shore the sailfish have been showing up along with king mackeral, spanish mackeral, shark, and some wahoo.

Fishing the bottom we have been having good luck with yelloweye snapper, vermillion snapper, and almaco jacks. We catch these from 100-350 ft of water and they make great table fair.

On the inside there has been good jack crevelle fishing and some tarpon close to the inlets. I anticipate the tarpon bite will improve once we start getting a few more cold fronts in.

All in all the fishing is heating up and the books are starting to fill in. If you would like to reserve a charter please call me or send me an email

Hope everyone has a great holiday season!

Capt. Freddie
