Good bye Spring:(Report Date: June 5, 2018May has produced a wide variety of fish this year inshore and offshore. May has always been my favorite month to sportfish South Florida do to the wide variety of species.
Inshore has been delivering jack crevelles, tarpon, and some large snook. The snook come in from ocean this time of year to spawn inside the intracoastal water ways, Florida and Biscayne Bay. In another few weeks these fish will come in heavy which will provide lots of action for the anglers who desire to catch these hard sought after fish.
Moving offshore the fishing has been very consistent. The mahi mahi are starting to show up along with some swordfish action. On our swordfish charters we have the opportunity to look for mahi and tuna on the way out and the way in. Often times we can catch our limit before we reach the sword grounds. The reef has been producing plenty of kingfish, little tunny, Atlantic Bonito, wahoo, blackfin tuna, and sailfish. We have caught sailfish on just about every trip over the past several weeks. As it gets hotter we will start seeing less sailfish and more swordfish.
Bottom fishing has been very productive also over the past few weeks. We have been catching lots of amberjacks, almaco jacks , red snapper, cobia, and mutton snapper. Mutton snapper should improve as the summer months approach.
